Our lab is a neuropathology lab. However, our lab research is to develop therapeutics for prion and Alzheimer's diseases as a part of UCSF pathology department and the institute for neurodegenerative diseases (IND). Lab projects involve with pharmaco-therapy and gene therapy in both in vitro and in vivo using neuroblastoma cell lines, brain aggregates and mice. We also have a lot of collaborations with labs working on prion, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease for neuropathology. In terms of lab size, it is a small lab, about 5 people working in the lab besides Dr. DeArmond but people are very friendly and nice to work with. Now we are located in a temporarily space at MCB, but we will move to a new IND building at Mission Bay campus early next year, where most of the IND department labs will get together in the same building.
